It’s Spring Break, and the last quarter of the school year is around the corner! Teachers have just finished reviewing student work and entering grades for the past term. Please take a few moments to review your child’s progress report. If you have any questions or concerns, please connect with your child’s teachers. They are eager to work with you for your child’s success.
In addition to academics, we are making every attempt to provide our students with enrichment activities. We offer band during advisory time and choir a couple mornings a week before school. Additionally this past term, under the direction of Western Oregon University student teachers, we have been able to offer an art class to our 6th graders and an after-school drama program which just completed an amazing performance of Coyote Tales. With limited funding, we have had to come up with some creative ideas to offer these programs, many of which rely heavily on volunteerism. We are currently putting together a network of volunteers to expand our offerings and help with other needs. If you have ideas about programs or would like to volunteer, please contact us!
Communication is always important to us! There are many avenues of communication available to you: Listserv, Home Access, our website, newsletters and mailings, email, or just pick up the phone and give us a call. Also, check out our Facebook page! Being out in classrooms frequently gives me great opportunity to catch our teachers and students in action, and they are doing some amazing work! You can now see pictures of that amazing work on Facebook! We welcome your input. LaCreole is a great school because we all work together for our students!

Forms and payments need to be turned in to the main office by May 20. Items will be delivered May 31.
The 8th Grade Recognition Ceremony for our 8th graders who have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above will be held in the Dallas High School main gym Wednesday, June 5, from 6-7 p.m.
Appropriate attire for students should be “nice” school clothes. The LaCreole dress code is to be followed: no spaghetti straps or dresses shorter than finger-tip length, etc. While this is an exciting time of transition, we want to remind parents and students that it is not necessary to go to any expense to prepare for this recognition. We strongly discourage any extravagant fanfare as it detracts from the school focus on recognizing the academic achievement of our students.
Seating is limited, so we ask that only immediate family members be invited. LaCreole students who do not have siblings participating are asked not to attend as they can send the 8th graders off during the day as part of yearbook signing. Students not accompanied by an adult will not be admitted.
Reminder to 8th grade parents: All school fees must be paid by Friday, May 31, in order for your child to participate in recognition.
Visual Media Center will be recording the event this year. A DVD may be purchased by calling them at 503-751-1456 or emailing Roger at Visualmediacenter.com. Recordings are $15 pre-ordered, or $20 ordered the day of recognition.
