Happy Spring Wildcat Families!

As fast as the snow came and went this winter, our school year is quickly melting away. Now with spring in bloom, it has caused us to look back at the busy year we have had and plan ahead for new growth.

Upon reflection, I can see we have done a lot of great things this year, and I am proud of the amazing work our staff has done with our students. Our focus on literacy is showing great results. We have more skilled writers than ever before, which has also impacted our students’ abilities to think and communicate clearly in all content areas. New rigorous standards in math have resulted in marked improvement in students’ ability to think critically and apply mathematical concepts to real world problems. We have seen gains this year due to efforts on all fronts, and I am proud of our staff and students.

As a staff, we have had many thoughtful conversations about the school we want for our students. Though past budget reductions have hampered our efforts, we are committed to our vision of providing the very best we possibly can for our students. We have encouraged each other to think outside box -- and inside the box and all around the box -- in order to turn possibilities into reality. The creation of our enrichment program this year has been just that. It has been a challenge. Without an established budget for enrichments, we turned to fundraising and utilizing volunteer teachers. It was a huge undertaking, but worth it because we want the best for our kids.

As we look toward next year, my desire is to continue to provide enrichment experiences for our students, but hopefully on a more permanent basis. This goal, of course, is dependent upon a more stable funding source. We are not sure what the end result will be for next year, but I do know this -- we want the most amazing school for our amazing students, and we will always work toward that goal.

May you have sunny days!
