Dallas School District kindergarten programs are full-day, starting at 8:00 a.m. and dismissing at 2:25 p.m. daily.  Stop by the Lyle or Oakdale offices between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to pick up a registration packet, or call and we’ll send one home with an older sibling.  Complete registration as soon as possible.  Early registration in April helps us plan for next school year!  Your child's birth certificate and immunization record will need to be provided before the start of school.     

Kindergarten Screenings

 

Kindergarten screenings will give parents information about their child's development and learning. The screenings will help schools balance out classrooms based on academic and behavioral needs.  It is ideal if you and your child attend the screening at your neighborhood school.  However, you may attend at either Lyle or Oakdale screenings.

To register a new student, please contact one of the schools below, dependent on your students grade level: 

• Dallas High School - Grades 9 through 12
• LaCreole Middle School - Grades 6 through 8
• Whitworth Elementary School - Grades 3 through 5
• Lyle Elementary School - Grades K through 3
• Oakdale Heights Elementary School - Grades K through 3

How to Transfer between Lyle Elementary and Oakdale Heights Elementary

Approval of transfer between Elementary schools is given by the building principals.

1. Completing a Out-of-Area Transfer Request form
2. Submit your completed form to your resident school:

Follow Up From Requested School 

After processing the request, the resident school will send the paperwork to your requested school. You can expect to hear from the new school by phone or mail regarding their decision to accept the transfer.

How to Transfer Into Dallas School District

Before a non-resident student can attend school in the Dallas School District, the student’s current district must approve the student for “release” to another district.

1. Start the process by contacting your current assigned school district and complete their transfer form.
2. If your current school district approves the transfer, it will send a request to Dallas’s School District office.
3. Once a decision is made, parents are notified by phone or email with instructions on how to begin the registration process.
