Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books encourages students to work with a team of peers to read 16 pre-selected titles. Beginning in January, battle teams compete against eachother to see who remembers the most details from the books. Good sportsmanship is a must.
Accelerated Reader
Students are encouraged to select books based on personal interest and appropriate reading level. After reading the book, students will take a quiz to demonstrate comprehension. If the student can demonstrate comprehension, he/she collects points for that book. Students can accrue points towards reading awards (prizes) throughout the year.
TEAM Time
On Monday mornings our entire school meets in the gymnasium to participate in TEAM Time. During this time Mr. Button leads us all in some movement activities to get our brains warmed up for the day. We also use this time to announce upcoming events and get important information to our students. Another highlight is the HOWL Card drawing for the week and Accelerated Reader Awards.
